if you were reading it as "so" in your head it would still be "a SO". (not "an SO")

if you were reading it as "a significant other" in your head then you're wasting a good abbreviation. what's with the needles expansion?

if you were reading it as "an ess oh" in your heading then you are both correct and super efficient.
